A14.1.06.101 Basis pedunculi The hierarchical presentation of this entity has been modified and it is displayed at the same level as A14.1.06.007 tegmentum mesencephali.
A14.1.06.005 Crus cerebri This term is preferred to the former pedunculus cerebri pars anterior for clarity.
A14.1.06.111 Substantia nigra This is not a component of the tegmentum mesencephali. It is ventrolateral to the tegmentum and separates this area from the fibre bundles of the crus cerebri. Some authors include the substantia nigra as part of the basis pedunculi, a convention followed here.
